Although the original mill buildings were refurbished and repurposed in 2000 the old water wheel remained attached to the mill as a fixed decorative feature only; a visual reminder of an industrial past.

Then in 2024 funding was secured from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the restoration of the wheel and associated community heritage activities including an education programme with primary schools from the local area, and the production of voice and film recordings for the Memory Map.
